Evening With The Dementors

We just went with a group of 11 to see the new Harry Potter movie. I think it’s better than the first two movies; there’s a different director who’s less inclined towards a saccharine by-the-book portrayal of life at Hogwarts. Buckbeak the hippogriff is suitably sympathetic, but Crookshanks is not the scrappy feline we’d wish for. And the werewolf…Sergeant Angua is much more pleasing.

  1. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, much darker than the first two (as was the book) – would probably be petrified as a young kid! Did they borrow those Dementors from the Lord of the Rings films or what? It’s always fun to see such a wealth of British talent on the big screen.

  2. It’s not showing here yet…I can’t wait to see it.

  3. I don’t think they borrowed the Dementors from LOTR films but I think they all had the same tailor. Thanks for organizing this outing, Richard, it was a lot of fun!

  4. Dementor costumes…. didn’t they look like a horrific version of the basic sheet-covered ghosts of a child’s imagination? I found LOTR costumes reminiscent of dark cowled monks haunting medieval dungeons. I though both were outstanding archtypes of evil.
