Loaves For Learning

Hearty molasses bread For some reason I’ve gotten it in my head to work my through the recipes in the Laurel’s Kitchen Bread Book, baking a couple loaves of bread each weekend. I’ve been doing this for several weeks now. At left is what I baked today, a molasses bread recipe. This is made with coarse stone-ground flour and has an overnight first rise.

  1. Oh, nothing could be finer than molasses bread! I can smell it now.

  2. Hi Allan,
This looks just like Pica’s Aunt Frances’ West Texas Brown bread that our family feasted on for years. If you all want to compare recipes I’ll send you the one I use. It is totally wonderful bread, but sadly my bread making days are over.
