Ratty Red-tail
Almost every feather on this bird seems to be crying out to be replaced. It’s a young red-tail; his new tail feathers will come in a startlingly gorgeous rich burnt sienna. But for now, he scowls in the walnut tree like some angry teenager with his jeans halfway down his hips, further down at least than the proudly showing top of his boxers. If those magpies get any closer, they’ll be history.

Too funny! You’ve certainly got his attitude down pat. I wonder if the red-tailed that got our chicken is a teenager. It stared me down beligerently as I tried to approach the carcass.
How funny! I use teenage humans as an example of sexual dimorphism.
Baggy droopy silhouette on one gender. Way too tight garments on the other.
Thanks, Teresa, Lisa.
I should point out that I have no idea whether this is a male or a female hawk, and hope no offense has been caused to the individual in question or to hawks in general….
