Black-crowned Night-Heron

Black-crowned Night-heron, pen and ink They’ve irrigated the alfalfa. This springs me into action like nothing you can imagine. I have dug many ditches, planted numerous seeds, tried to keep up with the earwigs (forget it) and my body hurts so much now you’d think I’d been beaten up.

Black-crowned Night-heron, watercolor But the night-herons were all over, and I drew lots of them. The watercolor is premature: the bird’s proportion is all off — but I thought I’d include it since I didn’t get to another.

Too much ditch-digging to do.

  1. The b-w sketches complement the color one, and you did do a really nice job on the head and eyes anyway. :)

Happy ditch-digging! I have to weed, but that’s not nearly as back breaking.

  2. I particularly like the top -left one.

I adore these grouchy looking birds. They look like irate footballs, to my mind.
