[Home]BlogAggregator

The BlogAggregator mechanism has been developing over the past year or so in blogdom. Basically, you send an excerpt from a post on your own blog to a subject-specific aggregation site, through either filling out a form or using Trackback. A good example of this is the [Blogs Against War] site. The [Internet Topic Exchange] is another place where one can set up aggregation channels devopted to particular topics. This mechanism might be a good way to highlight interesting place-oriented posts on people's blogs, and allowing for greater awareness of these posts.

I just set up a [Topic Exchange] channel for Place and Landscape and populated it with references to four posts. It is at http://topicexchange.com/t/place_and_landscape/. To add to it, either send that URL a trackback ping or fill out the form at the bottom of the page. I already see one disadvantage to having a third party manage the aggregator: there's no way to edit content on that site once submitted. --Allan

Allan, this is great. I am so glad you know how to do these things! This "sandbox and sketchpad" model we're using seems excellent, and ought to help us figure out what we really want to do when we go "public". I'll add some content to the TopicExchange? later today and I hope others will too. --Beth
