Where I am at:
[Pax Nortona]"Soul-less" is the platitude both city dwellers and country folk heap on the kind of place where I live. What do they mean? That the houses have no souls? -- religion and science teach me this. That the developers show no heart when they toss up what these others deride as "ticky tacky houses" after the popular song of the 1950s? This is often true. Or that the people who live in them -- people like me -- have no souls? [Complete Gallery at Paths of Light]
Where I live now:
[Prairie Point] Our neighbor installed a garden arch in the privet hedge separating our properties and planted vines on it.
[under the fire star] -- the first of several pieces on my neighbourhood: [Brodie Castle]
This picture was taken a couple of weeks ago in my front yard in Muncie, Indiana (USA). I saw a monarch butterfly flitting around, so I chased it for awhile with my camera. I'm still amazed that I was able to take a photo of such beauty in my neighborhood.
I'm fascinated by neon lights. Several months ago I went out in the dead of night taking pictures of all the neon signs I could find in my hometown of Muncie, Indiana and then added to the collection as I became aware of more. Inspired by the Ecotone Wiki, I've finally compiled them into a gallery. I made a point of only photographing signs that were unique and not mass-produced. (The one exception is the McDonald?'s sign which is a rare antique.) There are three more that I've yet to photograph but which I plan to add shortly -- one of a rabbit, one of a muffler, and one of Paul Bunyon. It's unclear to me what, if anything, can be gathered about the character of Muncie from these signs. Most Munsonians would be hard-pressed to even name three, but they do form a unique collection and convey something of the character of this city at night. I'd be interested to know what other Ecotone members' takes on these signs is.

Excellent visions. Bill: Your photo stirs me to mention my recent interest in "gaps". I've been exploring this topic somewhat in my personal photography, looking for views which are revealed by the breaks in the houses, down alleys, through the trees, etc. I think I will add that to the list of future topics.
Nancy: Is that the view from your house? I am envious if it is!
