Let's think how would we formulate a topic on this point, because it's a central one to the sense of dislocation/alienation/uninvolvement from the place one is living that we see in so much of society. Some people today seem to see themselves as butterfies, moving from flower to flower in a fixed landscape, while others see themselves as bulldozers -- and there is a full spectrum of variation in-between. I'd also like to suggest that sometime we blog on "Landscape and Memory". --Beth
